BRUNCH ON THE GRASS

Acrylics on canvas; 2 x (4’-0” x 5’-0”)

“Brunch on the Grass” is a playful reconsideration of Eduard Manet’s iconic“The Luncheon on the Grass.” The extra large canvas plays with scale to immerse viewers in the scene while mixed media is employed to bring a hyper-realistic feeling to the work. While the scene is depicting day to day life in Central Park, the verisimilitude of the painting is undermined by the group on the right of the canvas who replicate the poses and expression in Manet’s original work, including the nudity of female model, and leaving the viewer wonder if what they see is real.
